Evidence, Not Adjectives: What Evaluators Want To Read
Why 'robust', 'bespoke' and 'world-class' cost you marks, and what to write instead.
Words like robust, bespoke, seamless and world-class appear in almost every losing bid. They feel persuasive to write, but evaluators cannot score them because they prove nothing.
Replace claims with proof
Instead of saying your service is reliable, give the on-time completion rate from your last three contracts. Instead of saying you are experienced, name the contract, the client type, the value and the outcome.
Show what happened when things went wrong
A short example of a problem you spotted, the action you took and the result is often the most convincing paragraph in a response. It shows a working system rather than a promise.
Read your draft back and underline every adjective. If a sentence still makes its point without it, the adjective can go.
